Kids Care Primary School

Kids Care Primary School is a private day and boarding primary school.

It is located in Kirinda Village, Kalagala Parish, Nyendo Mukungwe Division, Masaka City.

The school is attended by children from the Nursery grade (equivalent to kindergarten) through to Primary Seven (equivalent to the seventh grade).

In Uganda there is a kind of kindergarten where the younger children are prepared for school. This is more like a preschool with two levels, the „Baby Class“ and the „Top Class“. This is followed by the so-called „Primary School“, which corresponds to the elementary school. However, this lasts 7 years in Uganda. The certificates indicate grades P1 to P7. After the 7th grade, the exam decides which children are eligible to go to secondary school or whether an apprenticeship is the appropriate path.

The school receives money from sponsorships.

The children need equipment for school visits: a school uniform for daily school attendance, shorts and a T-shirt for physical education classes and a „leisure uniform“ for evenings and weekends. Many children have nothing else.

DAILY UNIFORM 13,50 euros
SWEATER 9,50 euros
SPORTS WEAR 8,00 euros
CASUAL WEAR 11,00 euros

In addition, each child has to bring 134,000 ugx (approx. 36€) per term for hygiene items such as toothpaste, soap and detergent and to get school materials such as exercise books and pens and bring them to school.

The school year is divided into 3 parts (terms) and ends at the beginning of December.

After each term, a certificate is issued, the 3rd certificate in December decides on the promotion. School fees must be paid at the beginning of each term.

Around 680 children are taught at the school.

Currently 20 teachers and 12 non-teaching staff are employed. Ten of the teachers, the headmaster and the principal live in the school.
